William (Bill) Smith

Founder

Bill founded the Ethical Brand initiative in late 2003 to, as he puts it, "conquer the streams of digital data that reveal the true character of brands". Bill has over 20 years of experience in the field of information systems, as an analyst, solutions architect, management consultant and entrepreneur ‐ founding one of the first internet service providers in London in 1994. As a serial trend-spotter who thrives on using technology to challenge the status-quo Bill has considerable experience leading professional service teams, visualising, developing and implementing high value projects - including a leadership role in the design, technical development and implementation of a global corporate transformation programme targeting 120,000 employees in more than 100 countries. His industry experience includes publishing, telecoms, defence and security, television, oil & gas, finance and insurance, travel, hotels, tourism, entertainment, cosmetics and luxury brands. Bill has personally incubated Ethical Brandt through 10 years of research, development and successful international market-testing. Janet Cole

Non-Executive

Janet is a high achieving management professional with a successful track record in commercial strategy, corporate marketing, product development and management with a strong focus on business development initiatives that generate outstanding returns. Her international experience in key service industries includes telecoms, technology, financial services, travel and market research. Janet led strategy development at O2 and during its rise to 1st place in industry rankings and she has held senior marketing roles at American Express where she oversaw substantial projects and new product launches. With her strong people and project management skills and experience leading international cross-functional teams, in recent years Janet works as an independent management consultant in the mobile technology and internet start-ups space. Janet has an MBA from Cranfield University where she specialised in strategy and marketing.

Daren Morris

Non-Executive

Daren has considerable experience in operations and finance gained from working for companies (both as an employee and as an external adviser) in the capital goods and resources sectors on a global basis. He has worked in financial services, industry and private finance, and he is operationally focused with over 20 years of experience working at CXO and board-level. Daren's expertise includes all facets of arranged finance, from structuring and negotiating investments to business acquisitions and disposals as well as raising money on the public capital markets from private and institutional sources. Daren has also advised and acted as principal on many complex cross-border transactions for major blue-chip corporations, and has a detailed knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory and accounting environment. Daren graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Physics and is a qualified accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Andrew Todd

Non-Executive

Andrew has 30 years of experience working at senior levels in the financial services industry as a corporate governance specialist. He has served investment banking, fund management and administration advising on strategy, fiduciary and regulatory compliance, global business re-engineering and cost reduction, sales, strategy and negotiated the delivery of complex solutions in mergers and acquisitions, business process outsourcing. Andrew also has considerable experience winning and delivering large complex deals, which includes working at board level with regulators, legal firms and business partners to implement ground-breaking approaches to financial management and corporate governance. His specialities include the production of high grade plans for development and training, governance and policy planning purposes working under the auspices of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and cleared to CF30.
