With the exception of Non-Starters any entity engaged in the production, sale or consumption of goods, or
services is welcome to register as an ethical brand - provided it is genuinely committed to 'doing the right thing'. The types of entities
that may be registered as ethical brands ranges from professional individuals and firms to sole traders and proprietors, all type of companies
and most types of not-for-profit entities - including co-operatives and charities, as well as places such as towns and cities. In short, any
named entity may be recognised as an ethical brand.

The nature of an ethical brand is not generally determined by its industrial classification, location, number of employees,
annual turnover or budget. Apart from satisfying our Non-Starter Policy there are only two basic conditions that
need to be met in order for a license to display the ethical brand Identity® to be granted and retained. These are:
You must be a qualified Sponsor to register your ethical brand
You must participate in the ethical brand Monitoring Program.

or professional profile to your dedicated eb Profile Page or eb Extranet
. Your eb Profile is
automatically generated following registration.
If you're a Sponsor and you have confidence in the ability of your enterprise to 'do the right thing' then you're probably
ready to register your enterprise as an ethical brand right now. If your enterprise consists of one independently
owned business that trades under one name and it is not a branch, subsidiary or franchise and it operates from one location
then you don't need to bother reading the remainder of this section.
If your enterprise trades under more than one name, or it operates or trades from more than one location via a branch,
subsidiary and or franchised network and you would like to position one or more of these trading names as an ethical brand, then
you will need to register the parent entity, that is the owner of the trading name, as an eb Commercial Group.
A parent entity may have interests in one or more recognisable trading name. No subsidiary, branch, franchise
or other trading entity operating in any group or multi-site organisation may be registered as ethical brand without the entire group
being registered as a Commercial Group. Any parent entity wishing to register an ethical brand must first register
itself as the an eb Commercial Group. The Sponsor will then be invited to submit a roster of named members that
identifies each subordinate entity for inclusion in the Commercial Group license.
An eb Commercial Group essentially represents the blanket registration of all entities belonging to one group and or operating
under one or more trading name associated with the enterprise, which is then recognised as an ethical brand. Each named
member of an eb Commercial Group is subscribed to our Full Service Plan at a discounted rate and entitled
to display and use the ethical brand Identity® under one license that is issued to the parent entity.
Purpose
The primary purpose of an eb Group is to enable a parent entity, such as a holding company or master franchisor to:
Use a Single Streamlined Registration Procedure
Initiate the registration of an entire national or international network of branches, subsidiaries and or franchise operations
through one single streamlined registration procedure;
Plan and Manage Consistent Implementation
Smoothly introduce the ethical brand Identity® into an entire national or international network of branches, subsidiaries and or franchise
operations;
Control all 'eb' Communications
Retain as much or as little control over all group communications relating to its ethical brand strategy or initiatives
via its eb Extranet;
Monitor Global Feedback
To monitor, analyse and manage the global feedback pipeline and response process.
Composition
Each eb Group is composed of a parent entity and roster of named members. Each Commercial Group is
uniquely identified by a trading name(s) and one or more country names.
The term parent entity is a reference to the ultimate owner of the group subsidiaries, branches or franchise system being registered.
Typically this would be either a) a holding company, group, corporate or other entity that owns more than a 50% of each
named member; or b) a master franchisor or licensor; or c) a combination of 'a' and 'b'.
The term named member is a reference to any physically distinct and separate, staffed premises where activities
such as sales, service, production, assembly, processing, distribution or administration are regularly performed.

Many larger enterprises need some independent guidance, expert advice and hands-on support as they contemplate,
prepare for and execute their ethical brand strategies and initiatives. Generally, the range of skilled support we are
looking to the global ethical brand Associate Professional network to provide is exceptionally diverse and ranges from fairly light executive support,
such as conducting stakeholder interviews and facilitating workshops to more intensive support for strategy and policy
reviews, business process analytics, supply chain management, communications planning, campaign design as well as project
and or program management.

What we do
The standardised elements of our Full Service Plan, which apply to all registered ethical brands irrespective of their nature are
fundamentally designed to ensure that your commercial proposition is distinctively qualified and positioned as an

The things we throw in as extras for each ethical brand Associate Professional are a personal induction - formally introducing you to our business and
our approach along with procedural guidance, research and engagement material - as well as of course referrals and leads, which
we complement with regular press releases to relevant media. An ethical brand professional services directory will also be
published online in the coming months, to showcase the skills of our global network of ethical brand Associate Professionals. In the meantime your
eb Profile Page will be optimised for the search engines.
Fees: We do NOT charge any fees over and above the annual Full Service Plan fee. We do not act as an agent, broker or any
kind of middle man for your services. You enter into your own commercial arrangements that are agreed directly with each
ethical brand client, or with other ethical brand Associate Professionals.

A license to use the ethical brand Identity® can be as beneficial to any organisation that operates on a not-for-profit basis, as
it any commercial enterprise, so we have a substantial commitment to dedicate a proportion of our resources to this sector.
However, there are also many different types of organisations and enterprises operating under the heading of
not-for-profit. Therefore, in order to ensure that these resources are acutely focused
to deliver the most impact and support to those organisations that most need, we assign one of the following classifications
to each not-for-profit entity:
We recognise charitable organisations that are de facto charities. Each one must be officially registered
and recognised as a charity by an appropriate regulatory authority within its home country. We generally recognise these
organisations on the basis of the evidence of their officially recognised status such as tax concessions, coupled with the
nature of the causes or purposes they serve, which must be consistent with the values associated with the ethical brand Identity®.
Charities we recognise may register for our Full Service Plan
without cost (US$ 450 value) and generate revenue by joining the ethical brand Affiliate Network as follows:
Register the organisation as a ethical brand and during registration,
Select our Full Service Plan and
Opt into the ethical brand Affiliate Network.
The ethical brand Affiliate Network
Membership of the ethical brand Affiliate Network is strictly confined to charities we choose to accept into the affiliate program. Registering
a charity as an ethical brand - even if it is officially registered and recognised as a charity by the government of its home country
- does not guarantee that it will be granted ethical brand Affiliate Membership by Ethical Brand (International) and we reserve the right to use our sole discretion in this
respect.
Benefits of Affiliation
Each newly enrolled affiliate is added to our database of 'eb Causes'. 10% of all Full Service Plan fees
paid to Ethical Brand (International) are routinely donated to these eb Causes and the beneficiary of each transaction is determined as
follows:
Referral Commission. Like all ethical brands, each affiliate installs one of these on its website,
which links to its eb Profile Page. Each visitor to this profile page who click-through from that
page to any Ethical Brand (International) website (ie: www.ethicalbrand.com or ethicalbrand.org) via any of the links provided at the foot of the
profile page, or via any specifically special referral link proved to the affiliate for use on any of its websites - is
treated as an affiliate referral. Each affiliate referral is tracked and if that user is a
Sponsor who subsequently chooses to register his or her ethical brand and subscribe to our Full Service Plan then the referring
affiliate is automatically nominated as the beneficiary of the 10% donation, which includes annual renewals.
Nomination. Whenever a newly registered ethical brand chooses to subscribe to our Full Service Plan and this transaction
is not recognised as an affiliate referral that is already subject to a Referral Commission then the
Sponsor is routinely asked to nominate a beneficiary to receive the 10% donation. This procedure is repeated during each
subsequent annual Service Plan renewal.
We generally recognise a Non-Profit organisation as any entity that exists for purposes that are defined by a
constitution or charter of some description, which is not run for the benefit of one or more owners or shareholders and which
is not recognised as a charity. A Non-Profit is generally run for the benefit of members (ie: associations, clubs,
unions, co-operatives, community organisations, etc.) or beneficiaries such as those represented by a trust or foundation
that is not registered or recognised as a charity.
We do not generally recognise Non-Profit organisations as necessarily being needy so generally speaking,
we approach the registration, servicing and licensing of these organisations the same as we do any commercial entity. A
Non-Profit entity may register as an ethical brand and select our free Basic Service Plan or our Full Service Plan and pay the same standard
fee.
However, we also appreciate that there are always exceptions, so if you are the Sponsor of a Non-Profit
entity that is serving a purpose or cause that is consistent with our social, economic or environmental ethos, but which is
in fact needy and you would like to to register and subscribe to our Full Service Plan, perhaps because you need a website,
then you please follow the procedure set out under Informal Causes (below).
Every day, people from all walks of life are confronted by situations that call upon them to take the initiative and
do something. Not every needy situation falls neatly into a formal charity or other category that makes it
easy to dispose of and although we are not in a position to give hand-outs, we do know a thing or two about communications -
building websites, SEO, technology, corporate communications, etc. - if that is helpful to you. So if you are confronted
by a situation that is consistent with our ethos - that is, drawing attention to what 'doing the right thing' looks like - and
having support of this nature would be helpful to you, then you will need to do the following:
Register your initiative as an ethical brand and during registration,
Select the Full Service Plan (no payment is requested during the registration procedure as we review and screen all
registrations), and
Set out your motivation/case for why Ethical Brand (International) should Sponsor your subscription to our Full Service Plan.

your request during the normal course of reviewing and screening all new registrations. We may request more information
